In Nepal, Mahila means “Woman.”
It was our work with the women of Nepal with our now long-time partner Sabita Aryal, that inspired the launch of Mahila Partnership.
We are still there and today supporting the women continuing to lead the long recovery after the devastating earthquake in 2015. They are rebuilding their greenhouses and restoring their organic gardens. A sewing cooperative has been established where women are developing new skills. An eco-sanitary program has been established providing menstrual health education and sanitary pads hand sewn in the new cooperative.
Over the past 10 years we've joined partners in Haiti, India, Costa Rica and the United States to address post-disaster needs of woman and girls.
We are passionate group here at Mahila. What started as a personal dream for our founders has become a shared purpose for so many others.
